Lakeview Students Grow with the OrganWise Program
By Zion 6

Zion, IL. – With the help of University of Illinois Extension Program Community Worker, Monica Susan Marr, Lakeview has been working to inform their students about the importance of healthy eating and gardening through the OrganWise program.
During the fall, students learned about healthy eating and have now shifted to learning how to garden and why it is beneficial. Once spring begins, students will be able to begin the hands-on portion of gardening.
The introduction of this program has given students the knowledge necessary to make healthy choices when eating, and gives them the opportunity to connect with their true source of food. The information and skills they learn through the OrganWise program will integrate with subjects such as math, science, art, health, and physical education. The Wee-Bees are looking forward to getting their hands dirty and growing fruits and vegetables when spring starts.
