They deserve warm affections
Try this month to add family recognition to your school routine.

By Robin O’Connor

Lake County, IL. – Welcome October. Warm blankets, steamy dinners and layers of clothing come out of the closet. Families are settling into a school pattern.
Meal planning worked best in our home if there was a schedule.
Having spaghetti on Tuesdays, as well as pizza on Fridays worked best for our family. Consistency helps busy working families get children fed, homework finished and sensible bedtimes with less stress.
Anything fun and out of the ordinary from your family routine needs to “count” in your children’s lives. For example, if you go to a fast food restaurant because you are truly in a hurry, give it value. We’re going “here” to eat because you did a good job studying. A routine change can become a reward.
Another routine is to ask each child their daily high point at meal time. My adult children remind me of this ritual with humor now. Praising your children doesn’t have to be difficult or add extra time. Try this month to add family recognition to your routine with little fuss and great value.

Deles afectos cálidos
Bienvenido octubre.
